Today we were still on vacation with Neal and his family when this spectacular storm moved in from the northeast shortly before supper. As it approached, we got an awesome view of the shelf cloud.

As it moved over, the winds began howling (40 - 60 MPH) out of the north. Intense lightning and very heavy rain soon followed. One lightning bolt struck the beach about 75 yards away while we were all standing on the balcony! After the storm, we went to downtown Fernindina Beach for supper. There were widespread power outages all over the downtown area due most likely to the strong winds.

Overall, this was a very satisfying storm.
